Family Pictures Q&A

How do family sessions work?

Family photo sessions are fun, I promise! I once had a dad tell me that he would rather get a colonoscopy than have family pictures taken, but I made that guy laugh the entire time and you will, too! We meet somewhere you love – your home, a park, or that hidden spot with the perfect light – and just let things unfold naturally. I typically start with the posed pictures first to get those out of the way, and then let the kids go nuts because those are the best pictures.

What should we wear?

Pick colors that work together, but definitely don’t match unless you want to look like a four headed monster. Matching tones is the way to go, and try to avoid labels so your pictures have a timeless feel.

How long is a session?

About an hour and a half, but it could be shorter. I’ve been doing this a long time and have it down to a science. It will be over before you know it.

Do you help us pose?

A little – I will guide you towards the nice light and let things unfold naturally.

What if my kids are wild?

This is a common concern, but not to worry! I’ve dealt with some serious demons in my day, and can handle anything your kids can throw at me. As parents, we want are kids to be perfect, mild-mannered angels on picture day, but they rarely are. Try to make sure they get a good night’s sleep, bring snacks, and most importantly - don’t worry if your kids run amuck and have fun. That’s their job, and the pictures will be amazing!

Where do you photograph families?

Wherever you feel at home. Parks, city streets, backyards, living rooms, etc.

When will we see our photos?

Sneak peeks come within a few days, and your full gallery will be ready in about 2 weeks.

Can we bring the dog?

You actually aren’t allowed to not bring your dog. :) Yes, please, bring your dog!
