How to Prepare for a Small Business Branding Photography Session in Sacramento
First things first: you do not need to reinvent your entire business before your photographer arrives. You don't need a new wardrobe. You don't need to suddenly become comfortable in front of a camera. And you definitely don't need to frantically clean every inch of your office.
Preparing for a small business branding photography session in Sacramento is mostly about figuring out what you need the photographs to do.
Start with where the photos are going.
Website? Instagram? LinkedIn? Google? Email marketing? Probably all of the above, or maybe just one or two places.
A website banner needs a completely different photograph than an Instagram Story, so during a Sacramento branding photography session, so I make sure to shoot a lot of variety.n Wide. Tight. Horizontal. Vertical. Details. People. Spaces. And plenty of photographs with empty space for text.
Make a list of what you actually do.
Forget photography for a second. What happens during a normal day? A veterinarian might examine an animal, talk with a pet owner, look at an X-ray and cuddle a puppy. A designer might sketch, source materials, meet with clients and visit finished spaces. A yoga instructor might prepare the studio, welcome students and teach a class.
Suddenly we have dozens of photographs and nobody has to awkwardly pretend to work.
Wear something that feels like you.
Two or three outfits are plenty for most small business branding photography sessions in Sacramento. Choose things you'd actually wear. If you never wear a suit, please don't show up dressed like you're running for Congress. The goal is to look like yourself on a particularly good day.
And please don't practice posing.
It’s my job to give you direction; I'll find good light, and I'll tell you if something looks weird. There's usually a point during every branding session when everyone stops thinking about the camera, and that’s when things get really fun.
